Realigning Hearts (Weekly Ongoing Halaqa)

Duration: Weekly | Free Program | Registration Always Open

Course Summary:

As Muslims, we are deeply in need of knowledge of Islam. We need knowledge in order to connect to Allah ﷻ and His Messenger ﷺ. However, we typically limit knowledge to refer to knowledge of beliefs (imāniyyāt) and actions (a’māl). Knowledge includes these two at its foundation, yet the essence of knowledge is the ihsān, which is, “that you worship Allah as though you see Him, and if you do not see Him, know that He sees you.”

Ihsān is the knowledge of how to be in our hearts: how to love Allah; how to soften our hearts; how to root out love of this world, hatred, arrogance and envy; how to connect to the Prophet ﷺ; and in short, how to experience the reality of Islam, after learning what Islam is.

There is a difference between knowing that an apple is sweet and tasting its unique flavor.

Join us for this special weekly gathering, where we discuss topics in a very positive and uplifting way, with the aim of helping us to gently realign our hearts to the love of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

This halaqa will regularly be online via Zoom. However, the last halaqa of every month being in-person. Gatherings are open primarily to ages 18 and older.

Currently, we are studying Imam al-Muhāsibi’s Risālat al-Mustarshidīn (Treatise for the Seekers of Guidance), an early manual in Islamic spirituality (written in the first half of the 200s AH (after Hijrah)).
